Rage flew out of the cage

I feel this rage bubbling and boiling it’s way through the rivers of my blood 

Hidden so long under bare bodies of mud 

I want people to finally see this furious fire 

Crippled by fear, fuelled by desire 

I want people to feel the pain that has travelled through the bones of our ancestors vein 

Taste the bitter beliefs we have swallowed whole, to disconnect us from this sacred soul 

Tears run free to water the earth, 

voices reaching roots to alchemise new birth 

I feel this rage boiling it’s way through the rivers of my blood 

If only you could sense how our grief holds us hostage and drowns our wombs into a flood 

Down on my knees

Exhaustion blowing it’s final breeze 

Can we clear this karmic knots now

I pray to you God, please 

Dear men, we need our riverbeds steady and strong 

Will you step up and join us in this sacred song?

Side by side, as equals, is where we belong 

Dear women, can we witness our dragon in the eyes 

To realise this fierce fury is merely a disguise

Can we find a way amongst the thorns  

To soften the sharp shouting of our horns 

Let us free this rage, let it fly out the cage 

So the fire can burn slowly and warm our feet at night 

To welcome us into a wider world that shines a bit more bright
